Litter-Robot base and bonnet connectors for cycle interruption issue
View full details

Bonnet and Base Connectors are located to the left side of the Litter-Robot™ and provide power flow from base to bonnet (night light) and back again. With use, you may find that you need to replace these consumable metal parts, if they get scratched and worn, or have corrosion or carbon deposits on them that interrupt good power flow. These parts are designed for easy replacement with ‘plug and play’. Access is by unscrewing cover plate or base, then remove the connectors  and plug in replacements, making sure the purple and black wires stay in the same orientation.

Bonnet Connectors

Visible left side of bonnet when bonnet is removed. 2 screws hold the cover sleeve in place. Unscrew, lift off, and you can access the 2 metal connectors. Lift out of track, remove from the plug (do not pull the wire, hold the plug) and push in replacement. Do make sure the purple and black wires are still in the same position as the power flow will be affected if reversed. Refit sleeve.

Base Connectors

The Base Connectors are located to the left side shoulder of the base. To access these for replacement, the base needs to be turned upside down and 9 screws removed. The base can then be lifted apart into 2 halves, to access the base connectors. Unplug and replace the connectors, making sure the purple and black wires are in the same orientation. Refit the base halves together, and replace screws.

Care tip

To ensure longevity of base and bonnet connectors, the contact surfaces need to be kept clean and free of debris, deposits and corrosion. When deep cleaning, wipe both sets firmly with a dry papertowel to remove any material (visible or not). If there is deposit, typically grey or black carbonizsation, it can be polished off with a dry Magic Eraser or jewelery cloth, to provide a clean surface for good contact and power flow. Poor power flow will evidence with cycle interruption, with light indication a slow (1 per second) yellow flashing light.
